For nearly 25 years, The Akshaya Patra Foundation—a leading social impact organisation—has exemplified unwavering commitment to child welfare, nutrition, and education. As the implementing partner of the Government of India’s PM POSHAN (Mid-Day Meal) Programme, the Foundation has transformed the lives of millions of children by addressing classroom hunger, enhancing health outcomes, and creating better learning environments.

Guided by the vision that “No child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger,” Akshaya Patra today runs one of the world’s largest NGO-led school meal programmes, serving over 2.35 million children every school day across 25,000+ schools in 78 locations spanning 16 states and 3 Union Territories. Its 76 globally recognised centralised kitchens, supplemented by decentralised operations in remote terrains, stand as a benchmark for scale, innovation, efficiency, and food safety.

The Foundation has served more than 4 billion meals since its inception in 2000—an achievement celebrated at the United Nations headquarters in New York in 2024. With 8 lakh additional servings under its Morning Nutrition Programme, Akshaya Patra continues to expand its impact, fostering school enrolment, retention, and learning outcomes.

Through its pursuit of scale, excellence, and social impact, The Akshaya Patra Foundation embodies the spirit of “Nourished India & Educated India” and has become a symbol of collective action towards building a healthier, educated, and equitable nation.
